Understanding an Alert
Every alert NextScalp pushes is facts, math and measured data - never a hyped call, never an instruction. This page shows how to read one.
Changed on 2026-08-21. Alerts used to carry a Trade Plan (Entry, Stop Loss, TP1/TP2, R:R), a position-size line and an "RR @ market" button. They no longer do. The reason and what replaced them are explained below and in the announcement.
Observation, not instruction
An alert tells you what the market did and where price stands. It does not tell you what to do about it.
- What an alert contains: the event type (a breakout, a fakeout, a structure shift, a volume surge, a liquidity sweep, a wall being approached), the observed direction (↑ / ↓, above / below a level, break above, sweep below), the levels and structure involved, the volume / open-interest / funding / order-book context, a conviction grade with its concerns, and a Freshness line.
- What an alert never contains: an entry, a stop loss, take-profit targets, a risk:reward, a position size, or a "long" / "short" instruction.
Why: NextScalp grades every event it sends as a simulated trade internally, and on its own out-of-sample evidence it cannot defend the quality of automatic entry/stop/target plans on a 1-5 minute horizon. The product's rule is "not proven, not shipped as an instruction". The research engine that grades those plans keeps running under the hood - it is the only place plans exist now.

Reading it line by line:
- Category banner (
─── SIGNAL ───) - the message type. - Header - the event, the observed direction (🟢 up / 🔴 down) and symbol.
- Conviction bar (█/░, 1 to 5) - the bot's grade of how clean the event is, from Speculative to Strong. It is not a grade of how profitable acting on it would be.
- Confluence chips -
✓for,✗against,~neutral, across Volume, Flow, order-flow divergence (OFR) and higher-timeframe (HTF) alignment. - Price line - live price at detection and the recent move.
- Smart Insight - a short plain-English read, shown only when there is something notable to surface.
- Microstructure - the order-flow, order-book and higher-timeframe context behind the grade.
- Validity clock - roughly how long the event stays relevant.
- Freshness - see below.
Structural alerts (formation breaks, fakeouts, CHoCH, trendline events, 5m structure
breaks) add the level or swing involved - price, timeframe, strength, how many times it
was tested (🔁 Tested: 15m ×2 · 1h ×3) - nearby levels and walls, and the
open-interest / volume read behind the event, in the same factual voice.
⏱ The Freshness line
⏱ Freshness: Live 148.52 · 0.31% above 148.06 · extension 0.4 NATR · 42s ago
This is the honest answer to "is this still the same market?" when you open the bot a minute after the ping. It shows:
- the live price at the moment of delivery (not detection),
- the distance from the event's level, and which side of it price is on (above / below, or back below / back above if price has already returned),
- the extension - how far price has already run past the level, in volatility units (NATR),
- the age of the event.
Structural alerts carry it. And it is enforced, not just shown: a continuation break (breakout, breakdown, formation or trendline break, 5m structure break) that has already extended more than about one NATR past its level by the time it is ready to send is not delivered at all. By a scalper's clock it is already late, and a late break is exactly the alert that produces the "bought the wick" mistake.
Downgraded and cautioned events
The bot flags its own weak spots, out loud:
- ⚠️ CAUTION - when an event is shown for context but does not clear the conviction
bar, the header is downgraded and a
⚠️ CAUTION: <reason>line names why. - Named weak reads - when a break fails the bot's conviction test (an unfuelled retest, a break against order-flow, a low-volume range break, a target-less projection) the headline turns neutral and names the condition - for example an unfuelled retest or a low-vol break - so it can never be mistaken for a clean event.
- Funding cost note - when the observed direction sits on the crowded, paying side of
funding and settlement is within the hour, a plain line shows the cost (e.g.
⚠️ Funding in 42m · longs pay ~5 bps at settlement).
The buttons under an alert
- 📊 5m / 15m / 1h - run the AI co-pilot on that timeframe; the structural read arrives as a separate message, the alert itself is never rewritten (see /ai).
- ℹ️ Info - instant dry stats for the symbol (see /info).
The natural next step after an alert is /focus: the alert tells you where to look, Focus shows you the structure around it and can go live.
Position sizing
Alerts no longer show a size line. The capital and per-trade risk you store under /settings → 📐 Position Size feed /size, the risk calculator you drive: you supply your own entry and your own invalidation and get the size back. It is free on every tier, and the bot never picks either level for you. Your capital is never echoed in chat.
